Cupping aka Myofascial Decompression Cupping

Cupping is decompression therapy, help separate tight tissue and pulls blood, lymph and fluid to the area being treated to aid in healing.  Helps break up tight trigger points and myofascial adhesion, free tight muscles and allow better range of motion.

There are 4 types of cupping techniques we utilize at Acujin:

  1. Slide cup massage aka Dynamic cupping - cup glides across the body raising and decompressing tight areas improving circulation in the muscle and skin, this helps remove cellular debris from injuries and everyday build up.
  2. Flash cupping - technique is under utilized, the cups are not left on more than a second at a time, usually used on areas that have a lot of bad circulation. So areas that are weaker vs tight and strong.  The gentle pumping motion brings blood to the surface and helps with improving the circulation in places that generally feel weak and colder.
  3. Static Cupping - recommended for areas of injury or tight superficial and deep Myofascial tissue such as the shoulders, neck, back, legs and breaking up scar tissue.  The cups are placed on the area, it is not moved around like dynamic cupping or flash cupping, this is left on long enough to decompress the tough area.  This can also be used on post surgery to increase lymphatic drainage, circulation and relax tension in the area cause by the trauma of surgery.  Static cupping can be used while doing range of motion and movement to further relax the fascial tissue.
  4. Wet Cupping aka Hijama -  Medical bleeding for theraputic purposes.  Involves lancing or piercing the skin to help draw out blood. This is more involved than standard dry cupping and we do charge more for this treatment, depending on amount of cups needed and can only be preformed by the licensed acupuncturist at our clinic.

WE ONLY USE VACUUM AND SILICONE CUPS WE DO NOT USE FIRE CUPPING DESPITE CUPPING SNOBS, WHO FEEL THEY WANT TO KEEP IT AUTHENTIC, IT IS NOT BETTER THAN SILICONE OR VACCUUM PUMP CUPS.
